About Us

Our School

Stocksbridge Nursery Infant School lies approximately ten miles from Sheffield City Centre. Built by the West Riding Education Department, the school opened in 1955. The area came in to Sheffield in 1974 and is on the North West boundary of the city. It is maintained by Sheffield Local Educational Authority. It is a Community School for children aged 3+ to 6+. The Nursery has 39 places offering attendance on a part-time basis for 78 children.

We are a thriving school with just over 300 pupils on roll. We currently have 8 full-time teachers, 6 part-time teachers and 31 support staff who work well together. The children are taught in single age classes. At the time of writing 99% of the pupils are white British and 1% of pupils come from different ethnic backgrounds. The school is committed to equal opportunities.

Our School Building

Main school has a Nursery and 9 classrooms, two of which are housed in terrapins. Within the main building there is a well equipped hall (which doubles as dining room at lunch time), a kitchen, staffroom and offices. The meals are cooked on the premises. Two sets of toilets can be found in school, including a disabled toilet. The Nursery and terrapins have their own cloakroom areas and toilets. The school has extensive grounds including secure outdoor play spaces for Nursery and Reception children. There is also an adventure trim trail on the playing field and a secure pond area. Access to school is gained through the gate on Pot House Lane which is controlled by a security system and camera. All Visitors to the school must report to the main office.
